My Victory....

a new seed...a new effort...a new trial...

When I am forgotten or neglected, or purposely set at naught, I smile inwardly, glorying in the insult or the oversight, because I am, thereby, counted worthy to suffer — that is my victory.

When my good is evil spoken of, when my wishes are crossed, my taste offended, my advice disregarded, my opinions ridiculed, and I take it all in patient, loving silence — that is my victory.

When I am content with any food, andy raiment, and climate, any society, any solitude, any interruption by the will of God—that is my victory.

“Oh Lord, make Thyself to me
A living, bright Reality;
More present to faith’s vision keen
That any earthly object seen;
More dear, more intimately nigh
Than e’en the dearest earthly tie.”
